Must be at least 17 years of age to take the course but at least 18 years of age to take the state certification exam
Must have basic understanding and command of the English language
DOCUMENTS TO SUBMIT FOR APPLICATION
- Current certification in Adult CPR/First Aid/AED (must include hands-on certification, online courses are not acceptable; students may enroll in Kāhala Nui’s CPR/First Aid/AED class at a subsidized cost of $28/person offered on the 3rd Thursday of each month if space is available)
- Proof of a negative 2-step TB skin test or TB chest x-ray completed within 1 year prior to the start of the course – may be obtained for free from Lanakila Health or your own physician. Please note that the 2-step TB clearance is a 10-day process so it needs to be started early!
- Criminal Background Check Release – Students must be able to pass a criminal background check and be free of any convictions for a crime with a rational relationship to the duties of a Nursing Assistant (this is a state and federal requirement for the clinical training part of the course and for eligibility to take the state’s certification exam)
- Completed Student Health Evaluation Form
- Completed Enrollment Application Form
